What has lockdown re-introduced us to? We think - to humanity, to people who truly deserve our accolades, and to the real meaning of harmony. And, the teaching community is one which has shown that there are teachers, who truly care about their students’ education. Teachers from around the world have gone beyond their duties to teach and ensure the well-being of their students.
Take Kifayat Hussain, from Ladakh, India, for example. He is a mathematics teacher who continued taking online classes from the hospital even after he tested Coronavirus-positive so that his students’ education doesn’t suffer. He has also been recording lessons and uploading them on YouTube from the hospital keeping in mind the children who don’t have access to high-speed internet.
He explains, "Teaching is not just my job, but my passion. I was concerned that students will be left behind in their studies and it will be a burden for them if I cover the syllabus in a hurry in the future. I had enough strength to teach, so I thought I should give it a try. My school provided me digital boards and pens and I started conducting daily classes from 2 PM to 3 PM through Zoom. I recorded lessons on YouTube and sent them to students."
His dedication has been applauded and praised by everyone around the country and he also received a call from Ladakh’ Commissioner Secretary, Rigzin Samphel, appreciating his efforts.
