He also said that the posts of vice principal would be created in government senior secondary schools across Himachal Pradesh.
Mr. Thakur was addressing the state level education conference on 'Universal, Free and Quality Education for All' at Chaudhary Sarwan Kumar Agriculture University in Palampur, Kangra district.
The CM promised school lecturers that their promotion quota would be increased from 50 to 60 per cent.
He further commented on teachers showing poor results; they’d be given one time relaxation and their annual increment would not be withheld.
Thousands of trained teachers will also be recruited to ensure that every institution in the state have adequate staff.
He also believes that a strong and vibrant society can be built by value based education, moral education and Yoga. "Apart from imparting knowledge to the students, the teachers should also minutely monitor behavioural change in their students," the CM stressed.
Mr. Thakur said the state government has introduced several schemes such as 'Medha Protshan Yojna' for making Himachal Pradesh an education hub of the country. To impart quality education to the students, 'Atal Adarsh Vidya Kendras' would be opened in the state.
Thakur added, " Teaching is a very noble profession ...no nation can progress until it has dedicated and qualified team of teachers. Thus the role and duty of teachers become furthermore important."
Himachal Pradesh today has about 24 government and private universities and over 18,000 other educational institutions. The state’s now focusing on the qualitative improvement in the field of education.
