Inspired by Anand Kumar, Obaidur Rahman, an Indian-origin businessman based in Saudi Arabia, is launching ‘Rahman 30’. Through this initiative, 30 students from across the country will be selected through a screening process and will be given education free of cost.
Rahman said, "It is quite refreshing to see professors and students from other countries coming to see Super 30 and understand how it shapes students from underprivileged sections of society. We will also look for needy, passionate and talented students.”
The Uttarakhand government launched its own version of 'Super-30', where 30 meritorious students from across the state will be provided free coaching to prepare for the IITs. Higher Education Minister Dhan Singh Rawat announced this at a function held at the Himalayan University Jollygrant to award meritorious students.
Super 30 was established in 2002 by Anand Kumar to assist underpriviledged children with quality education and coaching for IIT JEE. Since then, over 400 students, trained at the centre, have cleared the entrance exam and obtained admission in IITs across India. 30 out of 30 candidates trained at Super 30 by Anand Kumar cracked this year's JEE Advanced examination.
