A circular issued on 8th August 2017 by CBSE on Commemoration of 70th Anniversary of Independence and 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement urges Schools, Teachers and Students to take the NEW INDIA Pledge.
The circular states, "In view of above, all the schools shall celebrate this occasion with an objective to create a festive and patriotic mood across the nation and a movement is created to involve every citizen of this country in the mission of realizing the vision of a New India. Schools, without breaking their daily routine and putting children to undue strain, may integrate following activities on the theme of independence in their curriculum transaction between 9 th to 30th August, 2017 :
i. Pledge :- A pledge taking ceremony shall be organized in which all the teachers, and students of school will take pledge anytime between 9th to 30th August,2017 to make India clean (Swachh) and rid the country from the problem of poverty, corruption, terrorism, communalism and casteism in the next five years i.e. when the nation completes 75 years of its independence in 2022. This programme may be arranged in the premises of a nearby Shaheed Smarak, commemorating the martyrs of independence movement or various wars/terrorist action since then. In case, there is no such landmark in the vicinity of the school, the programme may be organized in the school itself. A copy of oath is enclosed herewith."
The circular further elborates on activities like a quiz competition organized by MyGov and painting competition themed on Freedom struggle and the Independence movement, which may be organised by CBSE schools.
It also reiterates that all activities shall be undertaken in your school in most befitting manner as this is a matter of national pride.
